MASTER THESIS // URBAN FRAME

My thesis project explores a customizable, modular housing system designed to adapt to diverse environments and user needs. The system incorporates prebuilt metal framing, modular components like IBC water tanks, power units, and optional shipping containers, allowing residents to assemble their homes according to their preferences. Inspired by precedents like Quinta Monroy, Lotek, and Norman Foster’s Essential Home, the project emphasizes flexibility, user-centric design, and sustainable living, offering a grid-like framework that can integrate seamlessly into various sites, from urban lots to remote landscapes. The project also explores advanced concepts such as 3D-printed components and mobile configurations, pushing the boundaries of what housing can be in a rapidly changing world.
